Dr. Ank Michels is sinds 2000 verbonden aan het Departement Bestuurs- en Organisatiewetenschap van de Universiteit Utrecht. Belangrijke thema's in haar onderzoek zijn burgerparticipatie en de theorie en praktijk van de (lokale)democratie. Aan de USBO geeft zij onderwijs in onder meer vergelijkende politiek, politiek en bestuur in Nederland en onderzoeksvaardigheden. Tevens is zij de coördinator van de bachelor-leerkring Governance, democratie, en verantwoording.
