Gijsbert van Es is NRC-journalist. Op detacheringsbasis werkt hij nu voor de gemeente Leiden, met name aan projecten voor meer en betere samenwerking tussen burgers en gemeente. Hij is mede-initiatiefnemer van de ‘Canon van de Nederlandse geschiedenis’ en mede-oprichter van o.a. NRC.Next en Stadlab Leiden (in 2011 bekroond als de ‘meest innovatieve vrijwilligersorganisatie van Nederland’).
